Now I want to talk about liberating life. As you know we have not been liberating life for the last few sessions in CTTB. There are concerns about how we’re not liberating native species, and that the animals that we liberate may not survive well in the environment. We are considering other ways to liberate life that will make people happy.

Pligrimage, Vegan Diet, and a Mind at Ease2016-08-15

I would like to share my story of becoming a vegetarian. When I was young, I did not learn Buddhism. At that time, I had many illness and I was not in good health. Someone then told me that I should get some nutrition, so she cooked chicken soup for me. After drinking the soup for several times, I started to feel bad. I thought, “How come another animal's life has to be sacrificed to keep my body healthy? “I was sad since it felt as if I were eating someone in the same species as mine. Later, I started to feel sympathy for animals, and decided not to eat any meat.

A Brief Discussion on Being Mindful of the Buddha’s Name 2016-07-03

Long ago, there was a good king who helped his citizens and thus accumulated many blessings and virtue, so he had the opportunity to encounter the Buddha. The Buddha is an enlightened being who has reached “self-enlightenment.” He then tells others about the principles of enlightenment and allows them to become enlightened as well, which is the “enlightenment of others.” Finally, because of the perfection of both self-enlightenment and the enlightenment of others, the Buddha has obtained the “perfection of enlightened practice.” In this way, the Buddha is one who has perfected the three types of enlightenment and is replete with the ten thousand virtues.
