Today's topic is: “When Buddhist disciples don't keep the precepts, the Dharma is at an end.” Buddhist disciples refers to members of the Sangha. The Buddha spoke the Dharma, and the Sangha cultivates according to it and teaches it to other people.

Flowers have fragrance, but it does not last forever. The fragrance of the incense that is burned in the Buddha Hall does not last forever either. However, there is a kind of fragrance that lasts forever, which is the fragrance of precepts and samadhi, as in “precepts and samadhi make true fragrance” (from the jiedingzhenxiang praise).

Q: Dharma Master, can we use down quilts?
A: Do you think it is OK to use them? The goose must be killed to get the down and that is against the precepts. Anything that requires the killing of a sentient being is a violation of the precepts and an infringement on compassion.
