The Venerable Master set up the Cherishing Youth Day in order for everyone to work together to care about the younger generation. To celebrate this year's festival, Gold Sage Monastery was everywhere decorated, beaming with joy.

Besides local kids, little friends from City of Dharma Realm (CDR) and Gold Mountain Monastery (GMM) gathered together to spend a pleasant and meaningful holiday. Teacher Peter led the children to perform a play "Growing up in the Silicon Valley - Standards for Disciples in Daily Life", which told the story about how brothers and sisters need love and take care of each other. Teacher Peter became more and more skilled in performance, he could almost be rated as the "Year Award for the Best Performance". Led by their teachers, students of small class performed a puppet parade, and the atmosphere immediately became very active.

Students from CDR  played a duet, violin and Ba Duan Jin.They also performed the Chinese memorization. Their memorization was excellent and fluent which made us recall our own childhood, when we did the same thing. Kids from Gold Mountain Monastery  performed a drama which attracted everyone’s attention. In the following quiz, children shared what they learned from the drama: being honest, and being patient during difficulties.

Delicious vegetarian lunch has been one of the most attractive thing in this festival, which contains many days of efforts and caring from Dharma Masters and laypersons. A specialty in this year was the on-site production of cotton candy and popcorn, which not only attracted all the children, but also adults who were waiting to get a cotton candy. This reminded us our own childhood in the past.

Because of Dharma Masters’ and volunteers’ harmonious work, the monastery quickly resumed to its former tranquility when festival ended. It seemed that the exciting festival had never really existed, without any trace left. But is it really the case? Maybe not. Because the event was recorded in cameras, imprinted in minds. Although lasting for only a few hours, it became a wonderful memory  for both kids and adults, existing as wholesome seeds for their future Bodhi sprouts.
